Photo Editing – the Second Half of Photography
Taking good photographs is only half of the job. Marlin has the experience and takes the time to individually edit the digital images of your wedding. Marlin does not simply run a batch process on the photos to sharpen them and call that ‘editing’. He goes the distance to adjust color, brighten faces to draw attention to them, remove skin blemishes, darken non-essential areas to draw the viewer’s eye to the subjects, and remove unnecessary objects (or even persons) from the background. Training and Experience
Marlin Brownell’s education at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse includes a minor in Photography, a minor in Audio-Visual Instruction, and a major in Communication. He worked at a CBS affiliate station, WKBT-TV, as a news department cameraman and later as a studio cameraman. He worked as a freelance writer and photographer for the Statesman-Journal in Salem in 2008. He is experienced in many forms of photography and videography.

Equipment
Marlin uses only state-of-the-art Nikon digital cameras and lenses, producing high quality digital images that can be enlarged to substantial sizes. Marlin shoots both with available light and with professional off-camera flash equipment. Using a flash incorrectly can cause red eye, overexposure and that classic ‘flash look’. Marlin’s flash equipment is matched to his cameras and he intentionally underexposes the flash for pleasing ‘fill flash’ effect. Combined with digital editing techniques, the lighting is very professional.
