Video coverage
Brownell Photo & Video provides affordable, professional videography of your special day. You receive coverage with a digital ‘3-chip’ high definition pro-camera. Video footage of your wedding is recorded in stunning 16:9 (widescreen) format.
Editing
Our artistic editing techniques provide that unique look and style you are used to seeing on T.V. We combine establishing shots, close-ups, scene changes, pacing, digital enhancements, and music to transform your day into a memorable video production. Opening titles and custom music are added throughout your video with true non-linear digital editing. We use straight cuts, subtle dissolves or fades to black, not cheesy effects which would date your video or make it look amateurish. Digital editing is done in Adobe Premiere, providing a polished video production with no added noise or loss of picture quality. Using custom audio layering and crafted image processing, you get a creatively polished video that showcases your special day at a very affordable price.
Music
We are typically able to record and incorporate some of the music that is played and/or sung at your wedding. We also incorporate professional customizable sound tracks, editable by each measure.
If specific music is desired beyond what is recorded at the ceremony, there will be additional charges depending on royalties and copyright restrictions. It may not be possible to obtain permission or buy the right to use some songs requested by a couple.
The right music sets the tone for your wedding video and should enhance the mood and help you relive the moments. We have a large selection of music and craft the soundtrack to the wedding. It is best to trust us to select and tailor the music background for the video of your special day.
Training and Experience
Videographer Marlin Brownell’s education at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse includes a minor in Photography, a minor in Audio-Visual Instruction, and a major in Communication. He worked at a CBS affiliate station, WKBT-TV, as a news department cameraman and later as a studio cameraman. He worked as a freelance writer and photographer for the Statesman-Journal in Salem in 2008. He is experienced in many forms of photography and videography.
Your Story
Our job is to tell your story well in contemporary, profession video style. We get those amazing close-ups, friends speaking about you and that quality feel that comes from good shooting and tight editing. We tell the story of your long-awaited day professionally and unobtrusively.
Lighting
Although video cameras are now very low-light capable, on occasion we need to use a light. However, we use small wattage video lights that do not produce obtrusive brightness.
Working with Still Photographers at your Wedding
Videographer Marlin Brownell works well with other photographers at weddings, knowing from years of experience what they are trying to accomplish. He knows that your still photographer and videographer are there to capture your important day, so it is important for both to get the best coverage possible. It is ideal if a couple can set aside about 30 minutes for special video work. That way, important footage of the bride and groom can be captured.
Final Cut and Unedited Footage
The goal of your video production is to produce a contemporary videographic production that lets you relive the beauty of your wedding day. Our goal is not to show every moment that happens at your wedding, nor long clips that would make the production ‘ho-hum’. Audio layering techniques are used to blend voice-overs of the ceremony with well-paced video footage and music background. The final cut is a tight production, but you also receive a DVD containing the chronological ‘trimmed footage’, which contains much more footage than is in the final cut. (After outtakes are removed, trimmed footage is the entire ‘usable footage’ available to us just prior to our editing process.)
You receive three copies of a full-color, personalized, printed DVD, plus a DVD containing an ‘.flv’ version of your production (for use on the web).
Choose Brownell Photo & Video
We do a professional job for you because it is your special day, and also because our name goes on every video we make. The productions we make are our best referrals and we must keep our reputation for quality and excellence.
Knowing the right shooting angles, getting the close-ups and setting the scene with establishing shots are important. Professional videography involves knowing how to be in the right place at the right time, planning shots to ‘tell the story’ and editing the footage into tightly-paced, artistic production work.
Brownell Photo & Video gives you a professional, affordable way to preserve your memories and capture precious moments with incredible detail and beauty.
